As such I do not have much interest in Mijnheer Wilders (although I wish him well). My support, indeed my enthusiasm, is reserved for the weledelgeboren heer Thierry Baudet, a man of parts and quite literally both a gentleman and a scholar (his doctoral thesis was directed by Roger Scruton).
Too fine a character and far too cultured a man to be a success in the rough and tumble of modern politics I see him rather as something of a Charles Maurras or an Ernst Jünger. Perhaps he should leave the rabble behind and give us the fruit of his reflections upon the present parlous state of our civilisation and, if restoring it is no longer possible, how best to fittingly commemorate its demise.
