Baronius Press have reported a doubling in their sales of missals for the old Mass, or the “extraordinary form” as we are to call it now, since the release of the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum. Readers will be shocked to hear that I am actually a reactionary (however accidentally) because I only have a 1960 missal, not the 1962 missal which is the actual missal used at traditional masses. However, I would not object if anyone would like to gift me a brand spanking new 1962 daily missal from Baronius Press. The perfect gift for young Catholics: St. Nicholas Day is just around the corner! (Alright, over two months away, but still…).
Baronius Press are also coming out with the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which has received an Imprimatur and will be available from sometime in October.
Hello Andrew. I have two missals. One is from 1962, but isn’t the 1962 missal! The other is from 1952 and it is the one I normally use as it is smaller.
I actually own the Baronius Press 1962 Missal, which is absolutely splendid, and quite handsome, too. The version of the Little Office that I have serves its purpose, with daily prayers for different canonical hours. However, it is in English only; and while I do like the Little Office, I can’t say I’m as much a fan of the layout and style. I much prefer the copy of Baronius’ Divine Office that I own. I look forward to their edition of the Little Office. I’m sure it will feature the Latin texts and be nicely typeset, too.
Alessandro,
You own a “Baronius Divine Office?”
How can that be, since their web site states it won’t be available until “the first half of 2008?”
I’d be very impressed if anyone has a copy of the Baronius Breviary – as I’ve only just finished marking out which sections need the text replacing (in the edition we’re basing ours on) for our typesetting people this morning!
However, a lot of work has already been done on it and God willing, it will be out in 2008 (I have my doubts about the first half of the year….) but when exactly truly is in the hands of the Lord!
I got my Baronius LOBVM today and it’s wonderful! Light-years better than the 1988 Rotelle version. Now I can feel like I’m actually praying again. Thanks, Baronius, great job!
Ahhh, the 1962 missal. Why not go for the real thing and get a (completely pre-Bugnini) St. Andrew’s Daily Missal.
Hello,
Oh, I would be sooooo happy if I could get a used St. andrew Sunday Missal with vespers for Sunday.
Can anyone help me out. I lost my missal and I’m searching for a replacement.
Thenk You,
god Bless
Theresa
Can you kindly e-mail me with any missal for sale or any leads as to where I could find one.
