This past Saturday we went on a little expedition to the neighbouring town of Cupar for the annual Fife Show put on by the Fife Agricultural Association. It was an excellent day which provided much joviality. The venison hamburgers were especially enjoyed; I hadn’t had one since I was in Vermont years ago. And naturally there were plenty of animals; sheep, cattle, horses, dogs, but sadly no pigs.
A bull.
Mr. McMorrin and Miss Dempsey.
Sheep!
This little feller didn’t want to get in the ring…
…but was eventually persuaded, and joined by his brother.
Which is the better advertisement for Great Brits: Clare Dempsey or Great Brit potatoes?
A puppy.
Clare was entranced by the tractors.
Clare was an enthusiastic fan of the tractor pull.
Partook of a little clay-pigeon shooting, duly instructed by Colin Shedden, the Scottish Director of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, who looked a little worried when he asked if I had ever shot before and I replied never a shotgun “only an M16 and pistol”.
Taking a ride in a Land Rover over the mini obstacle course, good fun.
On our way back into town to catch the bus back to St Andrews, Clare and I did our best ‘elderly people’ impression.
Andrew;
Never thought of you as the country farmer type! You look good there- maybe farming is your future…
Love,
Dad
